We're looking for a detail-oriented PM with software building experience. We'd love a scrum master, but we don't mind paying for that training, for the right candidate. Our ideal Software Project Manager candidate will have confidence in their abilities and be a great communicator. We need someone who is proactive and takes the initiative to manage their projects and team effectively. And, most importantly, we want you to take pride in what you do.

The Software Project Manager is responsible for providing project planning and management for Software and Product projects using both Kanban and Scrum methodologies. This person works with architects, engineers, and clients to create a project plan, which outlines a project's tasks, milestone dates, status, and allocation of resources to stakeholders and other interested parties. The Software Project Manager is responsible for clearly defining and quantifying each step, as well as establishing concrete deadlines for each project milestone and deliverable. Additionally, product ownership and quality assurance are critical aspects of this position and our ideal candidate will have the ability to efficiently and effectively conduct QA for a variety of different tasks as a part of that product ownership.

We require all candidates for this position to be located in the US.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience managing software development
  • Drupal experience
  • Experience with Jira

Responsibilities

  • Customer service. This is priority #1 at Plan Left. Nothing else is more important than ensuring our customers have the best possible experience. As such, we expect our SoftwareProject Manager to be intelligent, empathetic, and compassionate communicators.
  • Coach and Teach Team Members on best practices with Agile methodologies and practices
  • Host Daily Standup Meetings
  • Assist Product Owners and Business Owners with Product Backlogs
  • Remove Roadblocks as needed and help the team stay focused on objectives
  • Total product/project ownership, from onboarding to closing. You should have a “product-oriented” mindset.
  • Achieve Project Objectives as laid out in Approved Proposals and Tickets.
  • Project Planning: Analyze, plan and develop requirements and standards in reference to scheduled projects
    • Gathering and organizing assets from Clients
    • Gathering and organizing assets from Team
  • Planning ticket Monitoring and Controlling for any issue that may arise to alter Scope or Schedule
  • Review project documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Enforce technical team standards of time logging, communication, and performance.
  • Identify potential project bottlenecks and pain points and implement solutions to mitigate risks.
  • QA ticket and developer work to ensure our clients’ expectations are properly met.

Communication

  • Available to co-workers and clients during regular business hours, 9am to 5 pm CST
  • Effectively leads the team through the project lifecycle to achieve project objectives.
  • Weekly/monthly/quarterly updates with clients with ongoing projects; detailed, scheduled reports on measurable items, such as milestones or releases and deliverables.
  • Hold regular meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects.
  • Work with Technical Leads and Architects to determine outcome based ticket, sprint, and project scope.
  • Determine and define clear deliverables, roles and responsibilities for staff members required for specific projects or initiatives.
  • Enforce team communication standards with ticket descriptions, comments, handoff meetings, and acceptance criteria.
  • Communicate with clients to translate technical support details into succinct, non-technical, customer-facing information.
